What is family really

I've always had a doubt in my heart. A doubt about what family truly is. What is it? I can tell you. My family are my close friends. My family is my cat Ricky. That's my family. The older I get the more I realize that I am not like anyone in my "blood" family, I don't even have their blood running through my veins and that is a great thing.

I left my country 26 years ago, ready to hang start a new life on my own. I didn't know how I was going to do it. I din't know where I was going to live. I didn't know where I was going to work. I just knew I had to get as far away as I could. But I didn't, I didn't move to Greenland, and not because it's way too cold but because I didn't want to be too far away from my "family" why? Because I didn't want them to think I abandoned them, yes my heart gets on the way sometimes but then I know I have been a good daughter, a good sister and to my friends I have been a great friend.

I guess I am disappointed, hurt, fed up, rejected, back stabbed, unheard, used, lied to, and verbally abused and it's ok because as of today I will let all that go. No more crap, no more of me giving a hand to be taken by the foot. NO MORE.

I am tired of people who use others and run over you if needed. Enough!.
I am tired of people who take advantage of situations and think other people do not notice.
I am tired of people who instead of talking about an issue, sent it through text.
I am tired of being called a liar because my ex tells them lies but I am the liar?
I am tired of my sister taking sides with a person who beat me, messed up my car, verbally abused me and still I AM THE BAD GUY.
But what I am tired and fed p with is people who can't think of any other way to survived but to take advantage of people for themselves to be comfortable.

When I left home and moved to the USA I didn't have money, I didn't have a job I didn't have a home or a car, just a backpack, guitar and $500.00 thinking I would get a job ASAP. Wrong!. I looked for jobs day and night and it was November so it was cold and end of the year, hard to get a job, I ended up living in the streets for 3 weeks until I had a job and a first paycheck to rent a room in a really nasty side of town BUT I needed shelter to keep me warm and that's all I could afford. I walked to my 3 jobs every day each job was a mile or more away. Yes I might sound like my father but my point is, when you have a job you can start your life by getting a roof over your head and then work on the rest, like a car, furniture etc. In the end, when we work hard for things we get they are of more value to you that if you got them for free.

My nephew moved to my town, I wanted him to now go through what I went through. He finished college and moved in with me and my ex. For 2 months he paid no rent, no food nothing, we let him drive our second car. He moved to the loft behind the house, which we also have a full bar with pool table in the garage, and a 12 person jacuzzi outside and again a good car. ALl firniture for his loft was given to him by a fried. Bed, sofa, love seat, dinning room table ALL OF IT.
I broke up of that relationship, yes I was beaten up, yelled at, nothing I did was right, and I paid all the bills, why because my ex was disable and my nephew was not working, I CARRIED THE BURDEN.

My nephew got a job with a very good company who's headquarters are in a very transited area, buss stop, train stop etc. Also surrounded by apartments all around the building.

I stayed living at in that house because I didn't know how I could get out and be able to afford a lace for me and him, after all, my ex milked me off my savings and any money I had. Once day I had enough, it was either talk with my nephew or go crazy. I told him I was moving out to my old apartment which I still had, yes it is a 1 bedroom studio apartment. I told him we could move there, he could sleep in the studio, however he would either have to put his firniture in storage or sell it but it wouldn't fit in my already furnished BY ME apartment. This were his words, and I quote "I can't sell my furniture, I need a car too" I replied "I can't give you a car and since the ex pretty much messed up my car, I didn't have a car either so it was bus and trains for a while. Nope he didn't like that, so he stayed living in the comfortable loft, paying 500.00 per month for a nice loft in a nice house with a nice car.. Damn! how cool and cheap is that?. Meanwhile he was upset in paying that because he couldn't afford 500.00 p/month.. WHAT? WHY? he has a full time job at a major mortgage company/Insurance company making over 25K a year, how can he NOT afford more?.. Little did I know (because my sister told me) that he likes to save money, well that find and dandy when you can afford to save money but when you can't and meanwhile I am paying all the bills and not 1 cent in my savings all gone on making sure both of them were ok. That's bull crap.

It's been over a month since I left. Now I am being told that I am a mean person, that I put my nephew in the middle of the beak up.. Wait a minute, my ex is the one talking crap to my sister, my ex is the one who is putting him in the middle but they need each other, they use each other, one needs a car to drive and a nice loft with a pool table and jacuzzi so his friends can come and play and the other one needs the money.

Here's my question, what's wrong with renting a room, taking the bus till he can buy a used car? I asked my sister that question and her answer was "MY SON WILL NEVER WALK TO WORK OR TAKE A BUS AND CHEAP CARS ARE NOT RELIABLE" Ok so then I knew who he got his "let me have a comfortable life and let everyone pay for my stuff and give me give me give me> I have news for that young man, you learn how to survive when you are young, when you get older if something goes wrong he will depend on women to maintain him and that what I call UN MANTENIDO, but then again, he is like his grand father, yes my dad, his wives have always maintained him . I thank God I have none of those genes. I thank God I can think of 100 ways to live, commute and survived with pennies in my pocket. I thank God adn my own self for NEVER EVER asking anyone to buy me anything... His goal is to someday become a CEO? oh honey first you need to understand that self survival teaches you management skills.

It's ok, My family's path (except mine) has always been a loser path and the chain continues, but not mine honey, oh no.. After the call I had from my sister today I AM DONE WITH THEM. Let them know that I will no longer lend a hand, they want something WORK FOR IT HONEY.

I was adopted at birth and to this day I think parents and sisters are just a pain in the ass.
